I wanted to work with Orange and deep shades of red. I thought of those pigments contrasting with each other. The confluence of the composition was characteristically unavoidable. Low and behold an attorney I know was decorating her new offices and she was using the same color palette. This is what happens when the power of creativity is used in it's purest form. When tuned to the right frequency the signal and message come through with strength and vigor. ( SOLD)

"AUTUMN SUNS"
I love big sunflowers and I like to paint them when I can. I'm drawn to their texture which I find both rugged and delicate at the same time. It's fun to imagine a composition then go through the process of applying the pigment. This was just a blast to paint, sometimes everything works out just right with a painting and I know it when it happens.

"THAT GIRL"
She came to me while on a flight to New York to see my mother. I usually take a sketch pad and charcoal when I fly. It helps me pass the time and keeps me from thinking about unpleasant things. This painting was done from the sketch I did on the plane and for some reason I feel compelled to keep painting her. Her story is perhaps a sad one but the way she shouts out at me is beautiful.

"FLORES"
I love being near the Ocean my creative spirit seems to revel in it's power. This painting came to me after a visit to California, I spent an afternoon at Mission Beach in Orange County with my sister and niece. We had a great brunch at one of my favorite restaurants, then we got some potato chips and ice water and went to the beach. It was great just to sit and take in all of the movement. The sun and smell of salt water along with the sound of the surf, put me in a trance like state of mind. I began painting, which by the way always happens in mind, way before I get to the studio. This painting was a true joy to paint, and it reflects my spirit of happiness and my need to express what's in my heart.

"TWISTER"
I remember the game twister and just how simple it was to have fun as a child. Today many of the games children play are filled with what might seem like fun but are designed to desensitize children to violence and death. I think we should bring back some of the things from the past that made us happier and healthier. 20" x 16" Oil on canvas. (SOLD)

"A WINTER BOUQUET"
Every year around Christmas I begin to think of
how good the holidays made me feel when I was
a kid. I loved decorating the house and tree. The
scent of oven roasted turkey and stuffing. All of my
family in the same place at the same time. I don't
know what could be better when I feel good, I paint better, this is a true beauty.

"BIG RED"
This painting is one of the best of my floral series of works that I have done over the years. I wanted to paint on a large scale and I waited until all of the conditions in my life were right to do so. I allowed my mind to develop the concept while working out the colors, composition and placement, of all of the components that I thought would make this a great painting. I spared no expense or time to create this piece. At the time my life was so full of different new people, places, and things. I was in the middle of putting together a retrospective for a museum show I was scheduled to do. I was also working on new paintings and juggling with the Idea that I might just find something else to do with my life. After going through what it took to complete this painting I found myself falling in love with art and the creative process all over again.

A FALL "BOUQUET"
I had a show at Galleria Mistica in Tucson, Arizona, a few years ago in the summer it was September it was hot as could be. I just kept thinking about the coming of the fall and the cooler air it brings. I did this painting with thought's of the holiday's in mind and all of the festive moment's ahead. This was one of the first paintings sold at that show, I try to project myself into my work to the point of seeing it go where it belongs.

"SUN DANCE"
This painting was inspired by a trip I took to New Orleans I went there to Southern University to witness the graduation of my granddaughter, she is a great kid. I walked the streets of the Latin Quarter and took in the sights, smells, and music, I loved it all. I took pictures and walked into as many of the art galleries as possible, after a while I was so inspired I could not wait to get home to paint. This composition formulated in my mind over the next few days I spent there. Going to the restaurants eating the food, listening to the music, and absorbing the cultural relevance of the city, I was struck by the power of how people there see life, and all of it's gifts. I often wish I could spend more time traveling. It's a real treat when possible.

"A BEAUTIFUL PLACE"
This painting was inspired by all of the wind swept golden hills of northern California. After moving to California from New York I lived in Pleasanton California and commuted to San Francisco daily while attending Culinary School. Part of my commute included riding the BART train from Freemont California into the city. I remember driving on the freeway and how beautiful the hillsides were. Pleasanton was so beautiful back then because they had not built all of those homes and condos yet.

"A BURST OF JOY"
This painting was so amazing, the color's I used made me think of a big jar of jelly beans. The memory of being a kid, riding in the back seat of our little red volts wagon beetle, Going to the beach and getting to the board walk candy store and buying a brown paper bag of jelly beans for .35 cent. Those were the day's. Funny thing all these memories were of my childhood on the eastern seaboard of the country, I did the painting in my studio in Arizona. The painting now lives in New Jersey. 52" X 30" Oil on canvas. (SOLD)
